THIBEAULT URGES MINISTER TO PROVIDE FAIR PASSPORT TREATMENT TO NORTHERN ONTARIANS

OTTAWA, ON – In the hope of putting to rest an ongoing issue for Northern Ontarians and Sudburians alike, Sudbury Member of Parliament Glenn Thibeault has requested a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon to discuss access to passport services.

“At our latest clinic a couple of weeks ago, my staff and I processed a few hundred passports in a matter of hours,” said Thibeault. “There is more than enough demand for a permanent passport office; all that is missing is the government’s will to act.”

Thibeault is hoping to change the will of the government through a one-on-one meeting with Minister Cannon. Until a permanent office can be established, Thibeault suggested that as a bare minimum, the Regional Service Canada office in downtown Sudbury should receive the same funding formula as other service Canada locations enabling it to provide referral services.

Please find attached a copy of the letter sent to Minister Cannon.
