STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF PVT. ANDREW MILLER

SUDBURY– Below is a statement from Glenn Thibeault, Member of Parliament for Sudbury on the death of two Canadian soldiers.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the deaths of Master Cpl. Kristal Giesebrecht and Pvt. Andrew Miller, two Canadian medics, in an explosion 20 kilometres southwest of Kandahar.

Members of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group; Pvt. Miller, 21, and Master Cpl. Giesebrecht, 34, were responding to a report that a mine was found in the doorway of a home when an IED detonated at about 11 a.m., killing them both.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Giesebrecht and Miller families, their loved ones, and all military families. The commitment, dedication and courage of both Master Corp. Giesebrech and Pvt. Miller and all those who serve our country will not be forgotten.

I join all Sudburians in praying for the quick recovery of the soldier who was wounded in the explosion. I pray, too, for the safety of all our soldiers as they continue the fight in Afghanistan.”
